The objective of this series is an accurate, record-supported substitute for the 1890 federal population census for Lavaca County, Texas also known as the Eleventh Census of the United States, taken June 1890.

The original 1890 federal census was damaged by fire in 1896 and 1921 and finally destroyed in 1935. This series will attempt to verify the resident of individuals in Lavaca County using a variety of primary 1890 sources. Our goal is to make this series a valuable resource for genealogists, historians and other institutions and individuals especially those interested in Lavaca County history.
